Vibrant Senior Centers Aren’t Silos

Alecia Johnson and Hollie Smith with BRADD give an update on the senior centers throughout the region, including gathering insights for future programming and highlighting the Barren Co. YMCA as an innovative approach to explore partnerships that will meet the needs of today’s senior population.

Each breakout session featured is thoughtfully aligned with the key goals and objectives outlined in both the regional Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) and the Local Strategic Plans developed for each of BRADD’s 10 counties. These sessions were designed to support the implementation of locally driven priorities and regional strategies that move our communities forward.

Alecia Johnson

About me

Alecia Johnson is the Associate Director of Aging Services at BRADD. She has been with the agency since 2008, working in various roles within the department. Alecia is a 2008 graduate of Western Kentucky University. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a major in Psychology and a minor in Criminology. During her employment at BRADD, Alecia has helped to foster the growth and expansion of programs for elderly and disabled citizens within our region. This includes involvement in various community groups, including the Barren River Mental Health and Aging Coalition, the Barren River Elder Abuse Prevention Council, the Kentucky Association of Area Agencies on Aging, and many others. She graduated high school from Butler County High and currently resides in Butler County, where she serves as her 11 year old daughter’s personal assistant.

Hollie Smith

About me

Hollie Smith is the Assistant Director of Aging Services at BRADD. She has been with the agency since 2021, starting as a Home and Community Based Waiver case manager, then moved into the role of Aging Planner, and most recently received a title change as Assistant Director. Hollie graduated from Western Kentucky University in 2019 with a master’s in clinical psychology.

Hollie works closely with Alecia in providing quality services to the aging population and is also involved with various local councils and coalitions. Hollie currently resides in Warren County, where she lives with her husband and 7-month-old son.
