Sherry Murphy

About me

Sherry Murphy grew up in Logan County and earned a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management from WKU.

She served as the first Director of Russellville’s Main Street program before moving to Elizabethtown to become the Executive Director of the Elizabethtown Tourism and Convention Bureau in 1999, where her most notable accomplishment was the development of a 160 acre tournament facility known as the Elizabethtown Sports Park which opened in 2012.

Ms. Murphy was announced Executive Director of the Bowling Green Area Convention and Visitors Bureau in November 2018 and currently resides in Alvaton.

Ms. Murphy has served the Kentucky hospitality industry in various roles over the years. She has held office of President of the Kentucky Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaus and was 2013 Chairwoman for the Kentucky Travel Industry Association.

She is also a proud 2007 graduate of Leadership Kentucky. She strongly believes tourism supports the local economy and provides social well-being in communities.
