Connecting Communities with Bike/Pedestrian Planning
BRADD’s Regional Transportation Planner, Austin Sims, facilitates a discussion between Karissa Lemon, BG-Warren County MPO Coordinator, and Barclay Trimble, Mammoth Cave National Park Superintendent, on how communities can connect with bike and pedestrian planning. Specifically, the session will look at an ongoing Federal Lands planning project aiming to connect walking trails from Bowling Green to Mammoth Cave.

About me
Barclay C. Trimble began serving as the Superintendent of Mammoth Cave National Park in 2017. His goal is to enhance visitation, education and visitor services while continuing to protect the natural and cultural resources that are so valuable to Mammoth Cave. He works closely with park partners and local communities who are vital to the accomplishment of these important goals. It is not uncommon to see Barclay at a worksite, in the cave, or on a park trail monitoring projects and learning about the park resources.
About me
Karissa Lemon is the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) Coordinator for Bowling Green and Warren County, helping to plan and program all things transportation. She also oversees BikeWalkBG, the program that promotes bicycle and pedestrian education and outreach efforts. Karissa enjoys bringing people together to make wild ideas come to fruition. She loves the outdoors, riding her bike and going on walks, exploring new places, and dreaming about what spaces and places could be. Karissa has her roots in the hills of Southern Illinois, but now lives in Bowling Green with her husband and two children.
About me
Austin Sims is the Regional Transportation Planner for the Barren River Area Development District, partnering with local communities and KYTC to plan and find funding for transportation projects to improve the quality of life for residents. Austin enjoys working to make his community a better place to live. He currently sits on the Bristow Elementary Family Resource Advisory Council, is a mentor with the Boys to Men leadership program, and previously worked as a Migrant Advocate with Warren County Public Schools. Austin is a lifelong resident of the Bowling Green area and graduated from Western Kentucky University 2021 with B.A in Social Studies with minors in both History and Political Science. He currently lives in Warren County with his wife and daughter with another daughter on the way.
