Finalizing the Plan

As part of Barren River Area Development Districts 5-year update to the Regional Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) and Multi-Hazard Multi-Jurisdiction Mitigation Plan (HMP), county-level Steering Committees met for an hour each month from January 2021 to April 2022 to create county-level strategic plans. This is a summary of the agenda for Meeting #14.

During their meeting together during the planning process, Steering Committees reviewed the draft of their county strategic plan and recommended its approval by their governing bodies (City Councils, City Commissions, County Fiscal Courts, etc.). This meeting also started the clock on a 30-day public comment period for each county strategic plan. No comments were received from any county during their comment period.

Finally, each steering committee reviewed the objectives that would be due before their first quarterly implementation meeting (set to take place in July or August of 2022 – depending on the county). When looking at the objectives due before July/August 2022, committee members were asked to designate a member present at the final steering committee meeting to be a local champion for each objective. This person would not be responsible for implementing the objective, but instead would be its minder between meetings – making sure that some progress was made on it, and reporting back to the committee at the next meeting.

As always, Each Steering Committee also made use of a custom Google Classroom set up for committee members to share information and review any meeting materials for meetings they could not attend.

BRADD staff then worked with Steering Committees to set their first implementation meeting. To read more about information covered in other monthly meetings, click here. To view a calendar of upcoming implementation meetings, click here.
